Who is FIATA?
FIATA, in french “Fédération Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimilés”, was founded in Viena / Austria, in May 31st 1926.
FIATA, a non-governmental organization, represents today a industry that embrace approximately 40.000 logistics and freight forwarder companies, also known as “Transport Architects”, employs about 8 to 10 million people in 150 countries.
FIATA has a consultative status along with ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) from United Nations (among others, ECE, ESCAP, ESCWA), UNCTAD and UNCITRAL.
It is noted as representative of the freight forwarder sector by many other international governmental organizations and authorities, private organizations in transports branch, like ICC, IATA, UIC, IRU, WCO, OMC, among others
